Interview with Henry at the height of his influence

It seems like everything is paywalled nowadays, and Henry’s interview with Paris Review in 1962 is no exception.

That’s showbiz, I guess.

But the folks over at Paris Review give us, the reader, a good deal of runway before erecting said paywall, so we think it’s worth sharing since the interview comes at time when Henry was, arguably, at his peak fame. I mean, just check out the lede:

Henry Miller has long been a byword and a legend. Championed by critics and artists, venerated by pilgrims, emulated by beatniks, he is above everything else a culture hero—or villain, to those who see him as a menace to law and order.
