Henry Miller Memorial Library

Big Sur, California
Develop an interest in life as you see it; the people, things, literature, music – the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.

For the the most recent listing of upcoming Library events, please click HERE.

Please read this Important Note below.  Questions?  Call us at 831-667-2574

NOTE:
The project to construct a permanent viaduct about 15 miles south of Carmel near the Rocky Creek Bridge is ongoing. Completion is scheduled by Labor Day, weather permitting. Daily roadwork schedules and road closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors so stay tuned for regular updates. http://www.thebigsurblog.com/

IMPORTANT:
We have had events with people gathering here at the Library since 1981. With folks like Al Jardine, Neil Young, Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, Philip Glass etc. performing here (because it’s awesome!) we’ve received a lot of attention (some unwanted). Please help us keep the music series at the Henry Miller Library healthy, sane and safe.

CARPOOL as much as you can (look for each other at campgrounds and motels – offer rides, share), bring flashlights. Be really CAREFUL when you park and walk along the road north and south. Big Sur has limited parking and, as you know, there’s really no public transportation. Thank You!

April 21  1 – 5 PM

Big Sur Earth Day Fair*BSAGE

In case of rain, the Fair will be held at the Grange*

Free Admission.

Sponsored by:

B-SAGE     -    CERT     -    Ventana Wildlife Society

Spring is here. You could smell it in the air yesterday as the clouds covered the sky in gray and a warm light rain fell on and off throughout the day. You can see it, the variations and depths of so many shades of green budding from the silver barren maples and cottonwoods as you drive through the valley. You can hear it in the warbles, whistles and calls from the flocks of song birds relishing in the sun. This is home. This is Big Sur in spring. This is the Earth.
Come celebrate, connect and learn on Earth Day.

Celebrate with musical performances from the Rise Up Singing Group to Jaimason and Friends who will draw us together with music that we can giggle, wiggle and smile to.

Connect with neighbors, 24 local Big Sur organizations, friends, strangers, the bag monster, and all five of the local schools. Become a part of the Big Sur community by joining any or all of the organizations.

Become a Big Sur Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member who is taught what to do during a major natural disaster here on the coast. And if you can’t wait for Earth Day at Henry Miller to find out about CERT call LaVerne McLeod (831)667-2788
