I'm reading a great biography at the moment, called 'The Intelligent Heart' by Harry T. Moore, it was written in the fifties and is a very subtle, loving history of d.h. lawrence's life, he especially has a very fine way of looking at how lawrence's poetry and novels link into the narratives which both lawrence and his friends weaved of the greatest story: Lawrence's life itself.
The biography goes a long way to showing the problems with writing today, of theory and having to have a new interpretation of a writer rather than speaking from the heart and connecting directly with the object they are describing.
I picked up this reference from a message someone posted here a while ago in regards to Lawrence, it was said by that person to be the definitive book on him and then i found it in an old bookstore, so thank you.
