Without all of those corporate manwhores and crappy art commodity peddlers, Miller and Bukowski's work would be kind of irrelevant. It is the iconoclasm of these writers that makes them important. I agree that there is a lot of bad art thrust into the market to make a quick buck, but the fact that the bookstores are not bursting with the work of new, inventive geniuses, is because these sorts of artists are by their very nature, rare. Frankly the "moneybag corporate manwhores" are only as bad as their public. They're not interested in publishing great writing, because the public isn't interested in buying it. Miller and Bukowski's books are available in almost every major bookstore, yet how many of your friends have actually heard of or read them?
"When art is commodified to serve the dictatorship of the masses it ceases to become valuable to the individual" -- Quite true, but then, this comodified art is by definition, not art. While it's true that it's a bitch to get new writing published or accepted, nobody's stopping you from writing it. Keep plugging away. It sounds to me like this commodified art world is not something you want to be accepted into anyway.
As Henry says, "always merry and bright".
