In the whirlwind that is the summer, certain things sometimes fall by the wayside.

For example, did you know that two months ago, Hippie Sven, upon waking up in his filthy van on a south coast turn-out, pledged to find a job in Big Sur?  And that the whole thing is filmed?

Indeed – it’s an emotional tour de force which loosely mirrors that of the epic trek of Odysseus. (If anything, the parallels are too heavy-handed; Diana from Fernwood clearly represents Euryclea; Ob-vee!!!!)

To that end, Sven’s journey features a delightful cast of Big Sur characters — try to guess them all!

Ultimately, Sven’s quest for employment, and with it, respectability and self-worth, reflects humanity’s internal journey for truth, meaning, and a deeper reality.

That, or it could just be a busted movie about a stoner.
